Meet the Artist

Sri Nambiar is a Berkshire based self taught artist who works primarily with charcoal and oils , creating expressive works that

explore the depths of human form and the natural world. She works from her home based studio and refines her craft

through weekly life drawing and live portraiture sessions .

She is drawn to the dramatic qualities of charcoal, using it to create atmospheric landscapes and skycaps . Her technique is

rooted in a sculptural approach, where they carve into the paper, building the drawing tonally and allowing intuitive marks

to guide the composition. This method enables them to stay open to the process, avoiding the constraints of fine details in

favour of a more fluid experimental approach. The result is a sense of movement and energy within each piece.

In addition to her landscapes she has a deep passion for portraiture.

She seeks to foster a connection with her viewers offering moments of reflection and recognition whether it's through her

sweeping energy of a charcoal landscape or the quiet intensity of a portrait.

I am a Berkshire based self taught artist who works primarily with charcoal and oils, creating expressive works that explore the depths of the natural world and the human form. I work from my home based studio and refine my craft through weekly life drawing and live portraiture sessions. I am drawn to the dramatic qualities of charcoal, using it to create atmospheric and dramatic landscapes and skyscapes. My technique embodies a sculptural approach, where I carve into the paper to create depth and texture. This method allows me to build the drawing tonally, with intuitive marks guiding the overall composition. Each piece emerges organically. This method enables me to stay open to the process, avoiding the constraints of fine details in favor of a more fluid, experimental approach. The result is a sense of movement and energy within each piece. In addition to my landscapes, I have a deep passion for portraiture and to capture the essence of the sitter.

I seek to foster a connection with my viewers, offering moments of reflection, whether it's through the sweeping energy of a charcoal landscape or the quiet intensity of a portrait.

I'm open for commissions.
